Anaya Bangar Picks Shreyas Iyer, Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill in Viral Interview
Anaya Bangar’s rapid-fire answers about Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma and Shreyas Iyer have gone viral. Meanwhile, Sanjay Bangar’s daughter is planning a cricket comeback in Australia and has urged the BCCI to consider transgender players in women’s cricket.
During a rapid-fire round in the interview, Anaya was asked to choose one of three options—kill, marry and hook up—for the three cricketers. Although she appeared slightly confused by the choices initially, she went on to assign an option to each player.
Anaya chose Shreyas Iyer for “kill”, Abhishek Sharma for “marry” and Shubman Gill for “hook up”. The conversation was shared on the YouTube channel of ‘Krishnank Atre’ and has since been circulating widely on social media.
Anaya Bangar has also been in the spotlight for her personal journey and ambitions in cricket. She underwent gender-affirming surgery and was previously known as Aryan. Before transitioning, she played men’s age-group cricket for Mumbai. In 2022, she decided to transition.
After completing the gender transition process, Anaya is now planning to travel to Australia to restart her cricket career. She has also appealed to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to consider allowing transgender players to participate in women’s cricket, citing the approach followed in Australia.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, Anaya said, “If the BCCI does what Australia has done, it would be a very good thing.”
Anaya also visited Australia a few days ago. Against this backdrop, there is speculation that she could potentially feature as a transgender player in the Women’s Big Bash League from the next season. Her plans to return to competitive cricket and her appeal to the BCCI have brought attention to the question of transgender participation in women’s cricket in India.
